Watanabe & Associates International, the predecessor firm, was founded in1995 by Hideharu Watanabe, who is a current partner of IAT WORLD Patent Law Firm and used to work at the intellectual property department in Snkyo Seiki Mfg, Co. Ltd. as a manager.In 1997, Hiroshi Hasegawa joined Watanabe & Associates Internationl. The firm name was changed to Watanabe Hasegawa & Associates International in 2000, and eventually changed to IAT WORLD Patent Law Firm in 2002.

Nagano Chino Branch Office was established in Nagano prefecture in 2003, and Shanghai Branch Office was established in 2004.
